Kozia Góra, also known as the shelter on Stefanka, is located on one of the peaks in the Silesian Beskids, not far from the recreational areas of Bielsko-Biała, at an altitude of 683 meters above sea level. Its beginnings date back to the end of the 19th century. Near the current shelter, there was a small hut that served as a shelter for foresters. Today, you can see its remains a short distance behind the shelter. The building of Stefanka, as we see it today, was built at the beginning of the 20th century by the Society for the Promotion of Tourism and was expanded in the 1920s by the German organization Beskidenverein. A veranda and a rotunda-shaped hall were added at that time. At the same time, an extraordinary attraction of the Kozia Góra summit was opened – a toboggan run. It was the largest construction of its kind in Europe, measuring 2200 meters in length and featuring 30 curves. Unfortunately, today we can only admire its stone fragments – ruins covered in moss, forgotten and unknown to the youngest tourists, but now very much needed for the development of sports and tourism in the region.
Not far from the shelter, from the side of the Bielskie Błonia, you can see the „Jan” altar table, which served the Bielsko evangelicals during the Counter-Reformation. Today, Stefanka attracts tourists with all the advantages of active recreation. From a short walk, through unique breathtaking views of Bielsko and beyond, to excellent traditional Polish dishes at the summit, and various attractions for the youngest tourists. Stefanka is also home to goats, after all, it is Kozia Góra!
